About
Hi there! I’m Jordan Brown.
A few years ago, I was completely unaware of where true personal fulfillment came from. I searched for happiness in physical objects and outside circumstances, whether it was a cheeseburger from McDonald’s, a new boyfriend, or a new pair of shoes. My unhealthy search for happiness landed me in a relationship that wasn’t right for me, in a body that was thirty pounds overweight, and in a closet full of random items that surely weren’t adding to my overall well-being. I felt completely stuck and continued to settle for mediocrity for quite some time.
It wasn’t until I turned to self-help books for guidance, about two years ago, that I realized if I wanted to be happy, I had to create it from the inside out. I became a self-help junkie and began reading for hours on end about happiness, well-being, and the meaning of life. This new hobby of mine served me well; my findings were literally life changing. I found that you can enhance the overall quality of your life by: 1) having a positive attitude, 2) loving yourself, 3) achieving your dreams, 4) overcoming obstacles, and 5) creating your legacy.
After coming to my senses and realizing that my happiness was, and always will be, in my hands, I felt inspired to make some significant changes to my life: I started eating healthy and excising on a regular basis, parted ways with my long-term boyfriend, and began doing activities that made me happy. By making these positive changes, I began deeply loving my life. I felt compelled to share my insight with others, so I created a blog titled “Motivation is contagious. Start spreading it.” I write frequently about happiness, attitude, self-love, motivation, achieving goals, and personal well-being. My blog has been featured to over a quarter of a million people on PositiveAtmosphere.com, SelfGrowth.com, EmpowHer.com, HerFuture.com, and www.Facebook.com/PositiveAtmosphere.com
Now, I am at a happy and exciting place in my life. I have a fun and rewarding job and write simply for pleasure. I am a soon-to-be author (thanks to The Girl’s Guide to Loving Life), creator of Shining Stars (self-esteem enhancement program for young girls; read about it below), and am a member and speaker with Toastmasters International.
Thanks for checking out my blog and feel free to contact me here.
If you’re a (very much welcomed) new-comer to my blog, I suggest you check out my firm beliefs, or Pillars of Positivity, which all of my blog posts are related to or focused around:
-Pillars of Positivity-
Attitude
1. Attitude is absolutely everything that you do.
2. Attitude is the one thing you can always control.
3. Despite any circumstances, you can choose to be a product of your attitude.
4. Your thoughts and attitude together creates your reality.
5. Your attitude is your choice.
Self-Love
1. How you feel about yourself is reflected in everything you do.
2. How you treat others is a mirror of how you feel about yourself.
3. Your self-worth comes from how you feel about yourself, not from how others feel about you.
4. The most powerful words are the words that you say to yourself.
5. Self-confidence is necessary for success in any area of your life.
Happiness
1. The only person stopping you from being happy is you.
2. The easiest way to be happy is to find joy in the smallest of things.
3. By making others happier, you will feel happier yourself.
4. Discover what makes you happy and turn it into a habit.
5. To be your happiest, you must be happy for yourself and by yourself.
Motivation
1. Follow your bliss and motivation will naturally flood to you.
2. Motivation is temporary, but you can make it a permanent routine.
3. Life doesn’t owe you anything: you must create everything for yourself.
4. Life without goals is a life without meaning.
5. Motivation is contagious: lead by example.
Personal Well-being
1. Accepting personal responsibility for your problems allows you to go from victim to victor.
2. Appreciating who you are and what you have in the present will help you get to where you hope to be in the future.
3. A healthy balance is needed between recreation and relaxation in order for one to reach their full potential.
4. Life really is beautiful. It’s just that so many of us pile anxieties, worries, and judgements on top of its greatness, making it hard to see life as it really is.
5. Your life is what you make of it.
-Shining Stars-
Mission Statement: Shining Stars provides a fun and positive learning environment, which fosters self-esteem and the confidence to develop into healthy and happy individuals.
Read all about the club below!
- Focuses on giving compliments to fellow members to increase their self-esteem.
- Focuses on their unique talents and abilities, which will help them to shine while participating in activities.
- Each little girl can be Supergirl, but she must believe she is Supergirl. This meeting focuses on being a leader, never giving up, and believing in yourself.
Meeting 4 – Don’t Mask Your Differences
- Racial bullying is the subject of this meeting. The overall message is: don’t hide your difference, appreciate them. They help to make this world a beautiful place.
- In this meeting, the girls wrote negative names they have been called on a piece of paper. They were then instructed to roll up the paper into a ball and stomp on it. Mean words will only hurt you if you let them hurt you!
Meeting 6 – Beauty From Within
- Encourages young girls to adopt the idea that the truest, wealthiest form of beauty is the beauty they hold within
Meeting 7 – Media & Self-Esteem
- The media frequently bombards women with negative messages of what “beauty” means. In this meeting, I urged the young girls to reject society’s unrealistic standards of beauty and to accept that they are beautiful in their own skin.
- Did you know that bullying is the number one cause of low self-esteem? This meeting focuses on the topic of bullying and the detrimental effects it has on a child’s self-esteem.
- How one feels about the way they look can drastically shape their self-esteem. In this meeting, I help the young girls to love what they see when they look in the mirror.
Meeting 10 – Reverse Esteem Effect
- Focuses on what I like to call the Reverse Esteem Effect. By increasing the self-esteem of others, your self-esteem increases simultaneously.
- Now that this first session of Shining Stars is coming to a close, my hope was that the girl’s in my club would be able to clearly identify their most positive characteristics.
- The final meeting was just as the title describes: bittersweet. I feel confident that the young girls in the club have the ability to mature into happy and healthy young women.
