I have officially begun writing my first book. It will be a self-help book for girls & women aged 13+. More info coming soon!
A few days ago, I had a brilliant idea! I love to blog, I love to write, and my purpose is to help others become happier… So, why not write a book?! While I know that this will not be an easy journey, I have a plan of action and a plan of attitude. Remember this from my previous post? (Read my “Plan of ACTION -Plan of ATTITUDE” post here)
My goal is to finish my book by my 23rd birthday, which is in November, 2012. That gives me about a year and a half to write and edit my book, and then I can search for an agent and publisher, or I may decide to self-publish it. I understand that this is going to be a very difficult task, and I’ll probably experience a few sleepless nights, but I really want to do this and know that I Can!
If you believe you can do it, you can do it. You can achieve anything, even your biggest goals, with dedication, determination, and confidence. If you fail the first time, don’t give up, and don’t ever let self-doubt block the road to your success.
When I first got the idea to start writing a book, I was battling with self-doubt. Negative, doubtful, insecure thoughts were going through my head… What if no one reads it? What if it doesn’t sell? I don’t have a Ph.D… will people take me seriously? Do I have what it takes to write a self-help book? Then I realized I was being a huge question mark (Read my “What Punctuation Mark Are You?” post here). So, I decided to have a Plan of Attitude….
I decided to start thinking positive and encouraging thoughts instead… You’re the only one stopping you from doing this! You CAN write a book! Take a risk, and just go for it! Who cares if I don’t have a Ph.D (My friend Mike brought up a great point- even Tony Robbins doesn’t have a Ph.D)! All that matters is that I have something important to say to the world, and that I have the determination to do so.
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.–Helen Keller
Is there something you really want to do in life but aren’t doing it? I challenge you to just do it. Challenge and push yourself. Get outside of your comfort zone, and set outlandish goals for yourself. You will get much more fulfillment and happiness out of a life full of adventure and risks, so what are you waiting for?
Whatever you want to do in your life, start doing it today! Don’t wait for the timing to be right (the timing will never be right!), and stop making excuses for yourself! Also, don’t ever let self-doubt hinder your ability to be successful. Confidence and persistence are the keys to your success. Go for it, and if you fail, try again (and again!) until you achieve the desired results. YOU CAN!
If anyone is interested in reading and helping to edit my book along the way, please let me know and we can set something up. I would sincerely appreciate all feedback and any help I can get!
Happy writing,
Jordan Brown
